| Third seed Marcos Baghdadis needed just 70 minutes to get past 2004 winner Vince Spadea on Tuesday evening at the Tennis Channel Open in Las Vegas, converting three of his eight break point chances to close the 7-6(5), 6-1 win. Baghdadis, currently ranked No. 17, is making his first appearance at the tournament. The Cypriot will face another American, Robby Ginepri, for a spot in the quarterfinals. Baghdadis is back on court today in his first round doubles match with Greek partner Konstantinos Economidis. They are playing the Belgian/Russian partnership of Xavier Malisse and Marat Safin. |
