The 30th and 31st of August is the opening weekend of the Cyprus Premier League. The fourteen clubs will enter to the grounds with new ambitions for the season. Italian referee Roberto Rossetti will take charge of the Euro 2008 final in Vienna on Sunday. |

The 40-year-old hospital director officiated at the Croatia v Turkey quarter-final and the opening match between Switzerland and Czech Republic. Rosetti was an official at the 2006 World Cup finals. Swiss Massimo Busacca will take charge of Germany v Turkey and Belgian Frank De Bleeckere will oversee the other semi-final between Spain and Russia. |

Even the Greeks didn’t manage to qualify for the Euro 2008 it seems that there will be no final without a Greek presence at some stage.The latest news saying that the Greek qualified referee Kyros Vassaras will blow his whistle for the final at the 29th of June. This is the biggest challenge at Mr. Vassaras carrier. The scenario regarding the Euro finals is that the ref could not be from Germany and all the other three countries have qualified to the semi finals stage.Mr. Vassaras main competitor for the final was the German referee Herbert Fantel, but as German is one of the four clubs will play for the semi finals Kyros Vassaras seems that will be his replacement. The draw will take place today. |

INTERTOTO: Ethnikos Achnas stayed alive |

Ethnikos Achnas managed to stay alive at the first game for the Intertoto Institution which has been played last Saturday against the Albanian “Mbesa”. Both teams have created opportunities to get the lead with Ethnikos to take the advantage to keep the score to nil, and waiting the next game to produce a beneficial result.The next game among the clubs will take place next Saturday 28th of June at Dasaki Achnas stadium. If Ethnikos qualify will play against Grasshoppers. |

The 25th of June will be the date when the draw for the new season’s (2008-09) Championships will take place among the 14 premier league clubs.The participants for the draw will be Anorthosis, APOEL, Omonoia, AEK, Apollon, Enosis Neon Paralimniou, Ethnikos Achnas, APOP/Kinyras Peyias, Alki, AEL, Doxa Katokopias, Pafos F.C, APEP Pitsilias and Atromitos Geroskipou.Most of the clubs are starting officially their preparations for the new season on the 30th of June, while Omonoia have started at 9th of June due to their European Campaign.Omonoia’s squad will be as follows: Georgallides (GK), Asprogenous, Makevich, Alabi, Plets, Lagos, Ventsiel, Stavrou, Maris, Sioring, Charalambous, Dikoumana, Tsikkos, Socratous, Kaiafas, Kaseke, Zlogar, Kleiton, Kopiling, Douro, Bagoura, Pavlou, Vattis, Kafou, Christofi, Vasconcelos.For the rest of the teams, we have a lot of speculation, and many new entries, as there is a strong effort from everybody to build a high quality squad.At Anorthosis Famagusta, they have signed, Yiannis Skopelitis, Fabio Tikinio, George Theodotou, Predrag Otsokolich, Sinisa Dombrasinovich, and Nikos Nikolaou.From the Champions they have left, Louis Fabinio, Antone Zlogar, William Boaventoura, Savvas Poursaitidis, Loukas Louca, Metoni Degianov Hamad Dikoumana.
