Round 24 Cyprus Championship

With just two rounds of the Cyprus Premiership Season left before the play-offs, there is still a lot of excitement and anticipation as much can change over the last two games. Although APEP managed to claim three points at Peyias Saturday with a 2-1 win, they are still bottom of the table and mathematically, cannot pass Aris who are currently in 12th position. The 2-0 loss to Omonia on Sunday by Nea Salamina also condemns them to football in the lower division next season.

FIRA-AER Rugby Division 3D Cyprus v Azerbaijan

Cyprus 58-0 Azerbaijan

Cyprus national rugby side thrashed Azerbaijan 58-0 Saturday at the Paphiakos Stadium, Paphos to set uip a winner takes all final match against Bosnia on Saturday 27 March, again at the Paphiakos Stadium.

Cyprus stormed into a 26-0 half time lead with three tries on the board. The rout continued after the interval with the Moufflon's crossing the line another five times. Marcus Holden scored a total of 24 points for the home side with 5 conversions, three penalties and a try.

Cyprus now top the FIRA AER Division 3D Group with 5 wins out of five. Their final match is against Bosnia on 27 March who are second in the table with just the one defeat against Cyprus last December. The group winner will win automatic promotion to Division 3C next season so everything hangs on this last match because if the teams finish level on points it is the results between the two teams which decides the outcome. With the first encounter going the way of Cyprus by 8-6 a win for Bosinia by more than three points will see them promoted instead of Cyprus.
